Grand Illinois Trail
+ My Favorites
The Grand Illinois Trail runs through many counties of northern Illinois, stretching from Lake Michigan in Chicago east to Galena, south to Moline and back to Chicago. Many attractions, accommodations and other facilities are found along the road. Bikers should be aware that the surface changes throughout the path, from pavement to gravel, and mountain bikes are recommended for several parts of the trail.

I&M Canal State Trail
+ My Favorites
The Illinois and Michigan Canal State Trail follows the historic canal that connects Lake Michigan to the Illinois River. The canal was built between 1836 and 1848, forming a water route that linked the east coast to the Gulf of Mexico. Today the trail is used by hikers, bikers and snowmobilers and touches on many historic site along the way. No horses or other motorized vehicles are allowed on the trial because of its delicate condition
