Utica Parks & Gardens
Wildlife and interesting scenery are abundant at the Matthiessen State Park. Located 4 mi (6.4 km) south of Utica, the park boasts five trails and numerous picnic areas for visitors to enjoy. Water falls, a restored fort and steep bluffs with unique geological characteristics are found along the pathways. In the winter, cross-country skiing is permitted.
During the spring, summer and fall months tall waterfalls flow down through this state park. The area is home to dramatic bluffs and canyons that dominate the scenery. Visitors to the park can enjoy hiking, canoing, horse-back riding, fishing, picnicking and in the winter, cross-country skiing.
