The JETS Observatory is affiliated to Freeport High School's science club. The members take visitors through the Observatory and allow them to use the telescopes to peer into space. The observatory in open to guests every clear Wednesday night from May until September.

J. Weiskopf Observatory
Found inside the Byron Nature Preserve, the J. Weiskopf Observatory features an 11-inch (28 cm) lens telescope to look into the skies. The center is open to the public every Tuesday and Saturday at sunset. Tours of the facility are also available.
