Ottawa Parks & Gardens
Running alongside the Fox River, the Ottawa Riverwalk is one of the newer attractions of the city. There are 3.4 mi (5.4 km) of pathways that provide numerous picnic spots, a disc-golf course and many designated sightseeing spots. A popular view is the Fox River Aqueduct, which is the longest such structure found on the I&M Canal. People are invited to walk, job and bike along the trail.
The Buffalo Rock State Park offers breathtaking views of the Illinois River and has been a favorite picnic spot for people in Ottawa for decades. An interesting site of the park is the Effigy Tumuli which are large land sculptures shaped into animals. They are best viewed from the distance. There are two buffalo living at the park for visitors to watch, as well as many other animals and birds. Access to the I&M Canal State Trail is available near the park.
